1. Purpose and Scope
Travellin may display advertising, sponsored offers, promotional material, affiliate offers and other commercially influenced content.
This policy explains:
- what constitutes advertising and sponsored content;
- how paid placement is identified;
- how advertising may interact with search results;
- how affiliate relationships are disclosed;
- how sponsored recommendations are handled;
- how Travellin distinguishes advertising from editorial and consumer-generated content;
- and what customers should understand when interacting with commercial content.
Travellin is committed to presenting commercial content in a manner that is transparent and consistent with applicable consumer-protection, advertising, e-commerce and data-protection requirements.
2. Travellin’s Commercial Model
Travellin may generate revenue through a combination of:
- affiliate commissions;
- referral fees;
- booking-related commissions;
- advertising;
- sponsored placement;
- promotional partnerships;
- supplier marketing arrangements;
- commercial content;
- and other lawful commercial arrangements.
The precise commercial arrangement may differ according to the product, supplier, market and booking channel.
3. What Is Advertising?
For purposes of this policy, advertising means commercial communication intended to promote a product, service, supplier, brand or commercial activity.
Advertising may appear as:
- banners;
- display advertisements;
- promotional cards;
- sponsored offers;
- paid listings;
- promoted destinations;
- recommendation modules;
- commercial articles;
- promotional emails;
- or other advertising formats.
4. What Is Sponsored Content?
Sponsored content is content for which a third party provides payment or another material commercial benefit in connection with the content’s publication, creation, placement or promotion.
Examples may include:
- sponsored destination guides;
- supplier-funded travel articles;
- sponsored hotel features;
- promoted activities;
- sponsored destination campaigns;
- and paid travel recommendations.
5. Clear Commercial Identification
Travellin will seek to make commercial content distinguishable from ordinary non-commercial content.
Depending on the format, labels may include:
- Advertisement
- Ad
- Sponsored
- Sponsored Content
- Promoted
- Paid Placement
- Commercial Partnership
The exact wording may vary according to the placement and applicable legal requirements.
6. No Intentionally Hidden Advertising
Travellin will not intentionally disguise paid commercial communication as independent editorial or consumer information where doing so would be misleading or unlawful.
This principle is particularly important where advertising is presented in a format that resembles ordinary search results, editorial content or recommendations.
7. Sponsored Search Results
A supplier may pay Travellin for increased visibility or preferential placement.
Where payment materially affects a search-result position or prominence, Travellin will use an appropriate commercial disclosure.
For example:
Sponsored
A sponsored result is still subject to applicable availability and technical requirements.
8. Sponsored Does Not Mean “Best”
A sponsored offer does not necessarily mean that Travellin considers it:
- the best offer;
- the cheapest offer;
- the highest-rated offer;
- the safest offer;
- the most popular offer;
- or the most suitable offer.
It means that a commercial relationship may have influenced its presentation.
9. Relationship With Organic Ranking
Travellin may operate both:
Organic / algorithmic ranking
Results primarily determined by the applicable search and ranking methodology.
Commercial placement
Results or promotional content whose prominence is materially affected by advertising or sponsorship.
Where these categories appear together, Travellin will seek to make commercially influenced content sufficiently identifiable.
10. Ranking Transparency
Travellin’s general search methodology is described in its:
Ranking & Search Methodology
The ranking methodology may consider factors including:
- relevance;
- availability;
- price;
- customer-selected criteria;
- location;
- reviews;
- supplier performance;
- content quality;
- and, where applicable and disclosed, commercial considerations.
11. Affiliate Relationships
Travellin may participate in affiliate programmes.
An affiliate arrangement generally means that Travellin may receive remuneration if a customer:
- clicks a qualifying referral;
- proceeds through a booking pathway;
- purchases a service;
- or completes another qualifying transaction.
The precise remuneration mechanism varies by affiliate programme.
12. Affiliate Commission
Travellin may receive commission from:
- airlines;
- hotels;
- accommodation providers;
- cruise companies;
- activity providers;
- car-rental providers;
- travel marketplaces;
- affiliate networks;
- and other travel suppliers.
The customer may pay the supplier’s applicable price while Travellin receives remuneration from the supplier or affiliate network.
13. Affiliate Commission Does Not Automatically Increase the Price
An affiliate commission does not necessarily result in an additional charge to the customer.
The final amount payable is determined by the applicable booking flow, supplier, taxes, fees, selected options and payment terms.
14. Affiliate Commission Does Not Constitute an Endorsement
The fact that Travellin receives affiliate remuneration does not mean that Travellin guarantees:
- the supplier’s performance;
- the quality of the service;
- the accuracy of every supplier statement;
- the lowest available price;
- or the suitability of the service for every customer.
15. Paid Placement
Travellin may offer suppliers commercial opportunities to increase visibility.
These may include:
- featured listings;
- promoted offers;
- destination placement;
- sponsored cards;
- banner advertising;
- campaign placement;
- or other promotional opportunities.
Where payment materially affects prominence, appropriate disclosure will be used.
16. Sponsored Recommendations
Travellin may display recommendations that have a commercial relationship behind them.
If a recommendation is materially influenced by payment or sponsorship, Travellin will seek to make that commercial relationship sufficiently clear.
A sponsored recommendation should not be interpreted as an independent guarantee of quality.
17. Commercial Partnerships
Travellin may enter into partnerships with:
- airlines;
- hotels;
- accommodation groups;
- cruise operators;
- activity providers;
- car-rental companies;
- tourism boards;
- destination organisations;
- travel technology companies;
- media organisations;
- and other lawful commercial partners.
Partnerships may include promotional benefits, advertising, sponsorship or affiliate remuneration.
18. Tourism Board and Destination Partnerships
Travellin may work with tourism boards and destination marketing organisations.
Such arrangements may support:
- destination guides;
- promotional campaigns;
- travel inspiration;
- photography;
- destination pages;
- events;
- or other informational and promotional initiatives.
Where the relationship materially affects content, its commercial nature should be disclosed appropriately.
19. Sponsored Editorial Content
Travellin may publish travel content such as:
- destination guides;
- travel articles;
- hotel guides;
- activity guides;
- travel tips;
- itineraries;
- and travel inspiration.
If such content is commercially sponsored or materially influenced by an advertiser, Travellin will not intentionally present it as wholly independent editorial content.
20. Editorial Independence
Where Travellin identifies content as editorial or informational, Travellin may apply editorial standards designed to protect accuracy and consumer trust.
Sponsors do not obtain an automatic right to require Travellin to publish:
- false information;
- misleading claims;
- fabricated reviews;
- or statements that violate applicable law.
21. Influencers and Content Creators
Travellin may collaborate with:
- travel creators;
- bloggers;
- influencers;
- photographers;
- journalists;
- publishers;
- and other content creators.
Where a creator receives a material commercial benefit in connection with promotional content, appropriate disclosure should be made where required.
22. Free Travel and Other Benefits
A commercial benefit may include:
- free accommodation;
- free flights;
- complimentary activities;
- free meals;
- free equipment;
- discounted travel;
- commissions;
- gifts;
- or other valuable consideration.
Such benefits may need to be disclosed when they materially influence promotional content.
23. Customer Reviews Are Different
Paid advertising and customer reviews are separate forms of content.
Travellin does not intend to present paid promotional material as an ordinary customer review.
The separate:
Customer Reviews Policy
governs review authenticity, moderation and related matters.
24. Advertisers Cannot Buy Positive Reviews
An advertising relationship does not give an advertiser the right to:
- purchase positive reviews;
- manufacture reviews;
- manipulate ratings;
- suppress genuine negative reviews;
- or falsely represent promotional statements as customer experiences.
25. Review Integrity
Travellin may use measures designed to detect:
- fake reviews;
- duplicate reviews;
- fraudulent review activity;
- manipulation;
- and other forms of review abuse.
Commercial relationships should not override these safeguards.
26. Advertising Claims
Advertising displayed through Travellin should be accurate and not materially misleading.
Particular care should be taken with claims concerning:
- price;
- discounts;
- availability;
- quality;
- rankings;
- ratings;
- location;
- duration;
- inclusions;
- benefits;
- urgency;
- and comparative advantages.
27. Discount Claims
Where an advertisement states that a customer can receive a discount, the discount should be presented on a truthful and reasonably verifiable basis.
Claims such as:
“50% OFF”
should not be based on an artificial reference price.
28. “From” Prices
A price such as:
From €99
does not mean every customer will necessarily be able to purchase the service for €99.
The price may depend on:
- dates;
- availability;
- occupancy;
- traveller configuration;
- fare class;
- supplier;
- location;
- or other conditions.
The relevant conditions should be made clear where material.
29. Limited-Time Promotions
Claims such as:
- “Limited Time”;
- “Ends Tonight”;
- “Last Chance”;
- “Book Now”;
- or similar expressions
should not be used to create a false sense of urgency.
30. Availability and Scarcity
Statements such as:
“Only 1 room remaining”
or
“Only 2 spaces left”
should be based on genuine relevant availability information and must not be deliberately fabricated to pressure consumers.
31. “Best Price” Claims
Travellin or an advertiser should not use an unqualified claim such as:
Best Price
unless the claim is properly substantiated and not misleading.
Where the comparison is limited to a particular set of suppliers, dates, configurations or channels, the limitation should be clear where material.
32. “Best” or “Number One” Claims
Claims such as:
- “Best Hotel”;
- “No. 1 Activity”;
- “Best Experience”;
- “Top Destination”
may require objective substantiation.
Customers should not assume that such statements constitute an objective guarantee by Travellin.
33. Comparative Advertising
Where Travellin or an advertiser compares:
- prices;
- hotels;
- flights;
- activities;
- services;
- ratings;
- or other characteristics,
the comparison should be based on relevant and reasonably comparable information.
34. Advertising and Search Filters
Paid advertising should not be falsely represented as an ordinary filter result.
If a customer selects a filter such as:
Cheapest
the result should be governed by the applicable sorting methodology rather than being secretly replaced by a higher-paying advertiser.
35. Sponsored Placement and Customer Choice
Commercial placement is intended to provide visibility, not remove customer choice.
Customers remain able to:
- apply filters;
- change sorting;
- compare suppliers;
- inspect terms;
- select another result;
- or leave the Platform.
36. Advertising Does Not Change Booking Terms
An advertisement does not override:
- supplier cancellation conditions;
- fare conditions;
- accommodation terms;
- activity restrictions;
- refund rules;
- payment terms;
- or other contractual conditions.
The terms presented during the applicable booking process govern the transaction.
37. Third-Party Advertising
Travellin may use third-party advertising providers.
Such providers may process information for:
- advertising delivery;
- measurement;
- conversion tracking;
- frequency management;
- fraud prevention;
- and other advertising purposes.
Where personal data or tracking technologies are involved, the applicable privacy and cookie requirements apply.
38. Personalised Advertising
Where permitted by applicable law, Travellin may use information to personalise advertising.
Such information may potentially include:
- language;
- general location;
- current search context;
- browsing interactions;
- preferences;
- or other permitted information.
Where consent is required, Travellin will use an appropriate consent mechanism.
39. Cookies and Tracking
Advertising technologies may include:
- cookies;
- pixels;
- tags;
- SDKs;
- local storage;
- and similar technologies.
The applicable use of these technologies is addressed in Travellin’s:
Cookie Policy
and:
Privacy Policy.
40. Marketing Communications
Travellin may send promotional communications where legally permitted.
These may include:
- travel offers;
- price promotions;
- destination campaigns;
- affiliate offers;
- supplier promotions;
- seasonal offers;
- and sponsored campaigns.
Customers should be given appropriate mechanisms to manage marketing communications where required.
41. Transactional Communications
Marketing preferences do not necessarily apply to essential transactional communications.
Examples include:
- booking confirmations;
- payment confirmations;
- cancellation notifications;
- refund notifications;
- security alerts;
- and important changes affecting a booking.
42. External Advertising Platforms
Travellin may promote its own services through:
- search engines;
- social networks;
- affiliate websites;
- travel publishers;
- advertising networks;
- and other marketing channels.
Those platforms may have their own advertising rules and disclosures.
43. Advertiser Responsibility
Advertisers using Travellin are responsible for ensuring that their advertising material:
- is accurate;
- is lawful;
- does not infringe intellectual property;
- does not contain prohibited material;
- does not intentionally mislead consumers;
- and complies with applicable advertising requirements.
44. Travellin’s Right to Reject Advertising
Travellin may refuse, suspend or remove advertising where it reasonably believes that the content:
- is unlawful;
- is misleading;
- violates Travellin policies;
- infringes third-party rights;
- contains fraudulent claims;
- creates significant consumer risk;
- or is otherwise unsuitable for the Platform.
45. No Advertiser Guarantee
Advertising on Travellin does not constitute certification or endorsement.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, Travellin does not guarantee that an advertiser is:
- the cheapest;
- the highest quality;
- the safest;
- financially sound;
- or suitable for every customer.
46. Commercial Content and Trust
Travellin recognises that customers rely on the Platform when making travel decisions.
Accordingly, commercial interests should not be hidden where disclosure is required.
The purpose of commercial disclosure is to allow customers to understand:
whether a result or piece of content has been materially influenced by a commercial relationship.
47. No Manipulation of Consumer Choice
Travellin will not intentionally use undisclosed advertising mechanisms designed to:
- deceive customers;
- conceal sponsorship;
- fabricate popularity;
- manipulate reviews;
- create false scarcity;
- or make a paid result appear independently recommended where this would be unlawful or misleading.
48. Relationship With Ranking Methodology
Advertising and ranking are related but distinct.
A customer should consult:
Ranking & Search Methodology
to understand the general parameters used to organise search results.
Where commercial remuneration is itself a material ranking factor, appropriate disclosure will be provided.
49. Relationship With Affiliate Disclosure
This policy should be read together with:
Affiliate & Referral Disclosure.
That document provides further information about Travellin’s affiliate and referral relationships.
50. Relationship With Privacy Policy
This policy should be read together with:
Privacy Policy
for information concerning:
- personal data;
- advertising-related processing;
- legal bases;
- data retention;
- user rights;
- third-party processors;
- and international data transfers where applicable.
51. Relationship With Cookie Policy
The:
Cookie Policy
provides additional information about cookies and similar technologies used for:
- advertising;
- analytics;
- measurement;
- personalisation;
- and related purposes.
52. Advertising and Consumer Rights
Advertising does not remove or restrict mandatory consumer rights.
Nothing in an advertisement or sponsored communication may lawfully override applicable rights relating to:
- cancellation;
- refunds;
- information;
- privacy;
- complaints;
- payment protection;
- or other statutory remedies.
53. Regulatory Compliance
Travellin intends this policy to operate consistently with applicable:
- Czech law;
- European Union consumer-protection law;
- unfair commercial practices rules;
- advertising requirements;
- electronic-commerce requirements;
- privacy and data-protection requirements;
- and other mandatory legislation applicable to the Platform and relevant transaction.
Where mandatory law imposes a higher standard than this policy, the mandatory legal requirement prevails.
54. Changes to Advertising Practices
Travellin may introduce new advertising formats or commercial relationships.
Examples may include:
- new sponsored placements;
- new affiliate programmes;
- destination partnerships;
- advertising networks;
- sponsored editorial formats;
- or new promotional tools.
Where material, this policy may be updated accordingly.
55. Transparency Principle
Travellin’s fundamental principle is:
Advertising should be recognisable as advertising, sponsorship should be recognisable as sponsorship, and commercial relationships should not be deliberately hidden from consumers.
Travellin seeks to ensure that customers can distinguish between:
organic search results,
commercially promoted results,
affiliate offers,
sponsored content,
and
genuine customer-generated content.
56. Final Statement
Travellin may use advertising and commercial partnerships to support the operation and development of its Platform.
Commercial activity does not remove Travellin’s responsibility to provide customers with clear and meaningful information.
Customers should always review:
- the identity of the supplier;
- the final price;
- booking terms;
- cancellation conditions;
- inclusions and exclusions;
- and any relevant commercial disclosures
before completing a booking.
Nothing in this policy constitutes a waiver of any mandatory consumer right.
